Fifty Shades of Grey, the popular trilogy by EL James, may be topping bestseller lists, but you won’t necessarily be able to find it at your local library.

Libraries in a few states are choosing not to stock the books or pulling them from shelves, with many citing what they say is inappropriate content.

The libraries that have decided against stocking the books due to their explicit sexual content so far are located in Georgia, Florida, and Wisconsin.

50 Shades of Grey Trilogy Covers

Some libraries that are not stocking the book cite financial reasons or bad reviews for the trilogy. Yeah right. A Random House spokesperson said:

“Random House fervently opposes literary censorship and supports the First Amendment rights of readers to make their own reading choices.”

The book, in case you don’t know, is about a hot, rich guy and beautiful, young sex plaything/slave and their various, detailed physical exploits.

Its movie rights were recently optioned, with fan speculation already reaching a fever pitch over who should play Christian and Anastasia.

Sexually provocative or not, a book is still a book, Random House says.

“We believe the Brevard County Public Library System [in Florida] is indulging in an act of censorship,” the spokesman says, calling out one library ban in particular.

“Essentially this is saying to library patrons: we will judge what you can read.”

“These events resonate as unfortunately considered decisions, as they withdraw from circulation a book with one of the highest demand curves in recent history.”

THG’s TAKE: C’mon, just lighten up and give the people what they want … that being mind-numbingly cheesy, Twilight fan fiction-inspired softcore erotica.

‘I don’t know if I’m ready to talk about him,’ Kim tells MTV News — but sister Khloé was more than willing to drop a few details!

Despite the fact that most of the details of Kim Kardashian’s romantic life have been very public over the last few years, she’s been mum on her latest romance with Kanye West. Sure they’ve been spotted on both coasts holding hands, stealing kisses and such, but we haven’t heard many details about their relationship, which many consider to be a very smart move for both parties.

When MTV News caught up with Kim and sister Khloé recently while promoting the new season of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” we asked Kim how she and West made the move from friends to more than friends, which led to an entertaining back-and-forth between the two sisters about how West has been a very positive influence on Kim and brought out an inner wild child of sorts.

“I don’t know if I’m ready to talk about him,” Kim said sincerely. “I feel like I’ve had such a hard time sharing my love life that now I’m a little bit more reserved on that.”

“For me, we’ve known Kanye for so many years and he’s always been such a good friend to all of us,” Khloé jumped in. “We’ve all been good friends with him. For me, I think friendships make the best relationships. Kim is so happy and is such a different person … She crowd surfs now.”

“OK, enough, enough,” Kim said to Khloé before her sister revealed too much.

“No I love, it,” Khloé persisted. “You’re like a wild, crowd-surfing child and I love you.”

In seeing the surprised look on our faces with Khloé’s revelation about crowd surfing, Kim attempted to explain what her sister was talking about.

“She uses this ‘crowd surf’ term, I walked into the house…”

“She crowd surfed on Lamar, Rob and I,” Khloé cut in.

“They were all sitting on the couch and I go, ‘Have you guys ever, in a concert, crowd surfed?’ I jumped on them to try and crowd surf,” Kim admitted.

“I don’t know why she thought of this,” Khloé said. “So now they say I crowd surf,” Kim added.

“But she doesn’t do stuff like that, so I was like ‘You are the new Kourtney,’ ” Khloé said, which made Kim chuckle. “She can’t because she’s pregnant,” Kim pointed out.

Acer’s Liquid series phones only occasionally reach the FCC, so it’s with some surprise that we’ve just spotted the still-fresh Liquid Glow getting the US agency’s approval under its E330 model name. Details are scarce as to whether or not there’s been any changes made to the Android 4.0 phone on its way out of Taiwan, however: there’s no telltale signs like cellular frequencies or carrier badging. If anything, Acer is hoping to keep information hush-hush by stamping a 180-day confidentiality seal on the manual and photos. It’s entirely possible that this is the international GSM model with no 3G support for North American carriers, so we wouldn’t get worked up about local release plans. Even so, knowing Canadian carrier Rogers’ tendency to offer Acer phones, there’s still a possibility that a version of the Liquid Glow might go on sale this side of the Pacific.

The average rate for a 30 year fixed rate mortgage declined 1 basis point to 3.91 percent since last week while the purchase application volume increased 3.4 percent and the refinance application increased 1.3 percent over the same period.

The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) publishes the results of a weekly applications survey that covers roughly 50 percent of all residential mortgage originations and tracks the average interest rate for 30 year and 15 year fixed rate mortgages as well as the volume of both purchase and refinance applications.

The purchase application index has been highlighted as a particularly important data series as it very broadly captures the demand side of residential real estate for both new and existing home purchases.

The latest data is showing that the average rate for a 30 year fixed rate mortgage (from FHA and conforming GSE data) declined 1 basis point to 3.91% since last week while the purchase application volume increased 3.4% and the refinance application increased 1.3% over the same period.

You might remember Le Pan’s tablets from CES this year, of which only one was truly ready at the time. The company is now ready to hit the US in earnest, but you’ll have to forget the company name along with the earlier designs: it’s now Matsunichi, and it’s planning to kick off its US-ready makeover through the MarquisPad MP977. The tablet shares the 9.7-inch, 1024 x 768 display of the Le Pan II, but it’s now running a slightly speedier dual-core, 1.2GHz TI chip (likely the same OMAP 4430 as in the Droid Xyboard), ships with Android 4.0 out of the gate and comes in a sleeker — not to mention browner — shell. Storage is being cut in half over the Le Pan II to just 4GB between the internal memory and a bundled microSD card, though, and the battery is good for a very modest five hours. Nonetheless, the $249 sticker and a May release will put the MP977 in the running with the slower but more capacious Galaxy Tab 2 7.0.

Matsunichi also teased us with a roadmap for a pair of future tablets in the process. The 10.1-inch MP1010 will keep the resolution, but it’ll run on a quicker 1.5GHz TI processor and carry a total of 10GB of space when it appears sometime between June and August. If those 0.4 inches of extra glass are just too much to bear, an MP979 will bring all the extra storage and speed of the MP1010 to a 9.7-inch screen sometime between August and September.

Matsunichi’s MarquisPad MP977 tablet tempts us with $249, dual-core Android 4.0 originally appeared on Engadget on Sat, 12 May 2012 12:03:00 EDT. Please see our terms for use of feeds.
